I found this wonderful piece a few years ago at an antique shop and still have not been able to find out exactly what it is. At first it looks like a crystal ball but the bottom of the glass ball is open and there is a slit at the top. My guess is some kind of a lamp with the slit for the hot air to escape, let me know what you think it could be!! Whatever it is, i just love it!

that is very cool...i will have hubby take a look when he gets home to see if he can identify it...i have no idea what it is...
ofcourse it´s a cystal bowl - the opening is for that pour soul that has to go in there and tell all the stories - see :D
it IS cool though
How about an early de-humidifier? Or a Bunsen burner...and the wick would come through that slit at top...hmmm.....i still like a gypsy's crystal ball....
Hey Cheryl,
I just saw your post on my blog. You are doing great and I'm so happy for you! Drop me an email when you get the time at starrugcompany@freeway.net. I'd love to hear more about what is happening in your creative world! Maria
Cheryl, I am not sure what this is but I would put a quarter in the slot and make a wish!:) It looks like something mystical to me. It is pretty amazing. I bet the glass is even prettier in person. I keep seeing little snippets of your house and wow, i'm envious. Love your creative touches. hugs, Amy
It is way-kewl!
This is such a great piece. Are you going to turn it into one of your fabulous art creations...or enjoy it as is. Either way...it's a great find.
It is a pretty amazing looking piece. At first glance it looked like a gazing ball. But the open bottom and top slot threw me off!
I am with Amy, I think you should put a coin in the slot perhaps position in next to the toilet in the Guest Bath?...LOL Making wishes is alwats good bit I think maybe it was somehow an early gum ball machine? Love oyur Bloggy. Robin
Oh fabulous, I would call it my crystal ball!!!! And I would love it. Good find.
