I went to a local antique show this weekend and managed to find some goodies that I thought I would share!

Of course I had to pick up some photos, the ladies have already been turned into witches! I love these vintage black and white fabrics, can't wait to use them.

In Memory of...

Robert Clayton 1930 -2010
Growing up my brothers, sister and I had a dad in our early childhood, but he was one that was physically there when it was convenvient for him and was for the most part not emotionally there when he was present. But that was okay, because we were surrounded by uncles, 1 uncle in particular that was there whenever we needed him, and we had the most important and constant man in our lives, our grandpa Robert Clayton.

He attended all of our sporting and school activities and made sure we had a fun childhood by making sure we got to go places like Cedar Point and swimming at a local swim park. We had lots of family cook-outs and get togethers. There was never a question of us going without because my granparents were there to help my single mother if she ever needed it,( she did an awesome job though all by herself, we could have not asked for a better mom.)

By watching our grandparents marriage we learned what it meant to be a good husband and especially how a good father acted.

My brothers are the amazing fathers they are today, not because of the example set by our father but by following the example set by our grandpa. Now their children will have the experience of having a true father in lives because of him. What a wonderful legacy to leave all the generations that follow and that is the thing I am most grateful to him for. So I would like to say thank-you grandpa for being an inspiration to us all and you will be dearly missed by everyone that was lucky enough to have had you in their lives.

Country Living Fair

What a wonderful time it was at the fair this year! It was such a busy show that I did not get to leave the tent much and photograph all the amazing venders that were there. I will just have to share all the wonderful work that was created by the Earth Angels in our tent.

This is my "adopted daughter" Sofie, she is always such a big help to me and everyone there, our fearless leader, Jen O'Connor is in the background sprucing up her scooter!

All packed up and ready to.....

go to the Country Living Fair this weekend in Columbus, OH. I have been hard at work these past few weeks and as promised, wanted to share some of what I have packed up and on it's way!

This is the largest piece, at 2 1/2 feet tall, it also happens to be one of my fav's!

Next are a few pieces made using old wood clock cases, my favorite things to work with.

Of course, it is not a Fall show without plenty of witches and a warlock too.

Time to get to work!

I will be taking a break from blogland for a few weeks while I get busy creating new work for the upcoming shows I have in Sept. The clock is ticking and I have to get my rear in gear and get to arting!! I will be back as soon as I can with some sneak peeks of what I will have come up with for the Creative Connection Event to be held Sept. 16-18 and the Country Living Fair to be held on Sept. 24-26.

Fabulous finds

Hubby and I headed out today to Rogers Flea Market in Roger's OH (with a stop at antique shop too).

At the " Dollar Land" booth I snatched up all these wonderful collars and trims for $1 a piece! Oh how I wish every space could be dollar land!!!!!


I found these great glass paper weights that I plan on taking apart and filling up with all kinds of goodies.

I was on the hunt for some millinery flowers and could only find this sweet velvet bunch along with some photos....these women don't know it yet but next month they will be turned into glorious witches for Halloween...ssh, don't tell and spoil their transformations! I think the gentleman will make a handsome warlock, don't you?

Of course it is not a flea market experience for me unless I find some nice rusty junk and tins...

This piece will join my collection of vintage Niagara Falls items, made even more special since my hubby bought it for me.

DISCLAIMER : those who do not like creepy old dolls might want to skip the next couple of pics... ....I was struck at first by their rough condition but then Michael DeMeng popped into my head and said they would make some great creations once they were Demengified ,so to honor him I will do my best to accomplish that (any time I hear his voice in my head, I obey it....LOL.....)

Pretty ladies

I have quite a collection of tin-types of women and have been experimenting with different ways to use them. I had this idea for awhile of making little purses-cell phone holders that could be worn whenever you don't want to lug around a big purse. So I combined that idea with the tin-types and here is what I came up with!



I used some of my vintage fabrics, laces, flowers and trim for each one. They measure about 3-3/4" x 5-1/2". Each one has been stitched by hand on the sides and I stitched on all the lace and embellishments. Even the photos have been sewn on. I find sewing by hand to be so relaxing even though it is so time consuming!
I decided to give each lady a name, here is Clara..

Coraline

Madeline

Hester Sue

I gave them all pretty long straps made from vintage trims and laces so that they could be worn over the shoulder as modeled by my daughter Callie!

or they straps could be knotted or trimmed to make them shorter to wear around the neck.
