I am a mixed media artist that is inspired by poetry and anything old, grungy, well used and well loved! I combine them with wonderful old vintage photos and create from my heart.
I am a huge fan of Steampunk and the artists that create it. I found these two pieces that I am totally infatuated by on Etsy this morning. The artist Urbandon has earned my admiration and I would love to one day own a piece of his!
Thanks for sharing. These are wonderful. I love the literature from this era H.G. wells etc. and the art is so fitting!:) I think of your art as a feminine version of steampunk and can see the influence....did I tell you I dreamed that we went shopping/flea marketing together and you found the most wonderful (I'm trying to describe what I saw).. pieces. They were carved wood and had a bavarian influence like little chalet fronts and cuckoo clocks.. oh and they were really distressed and perfect for your art. In the dream I found a bunch of vintage heart buttons that were made out of that clear, red plastic and were flat but had beautiful cut out designs. When I went to check out, they were closed, so I had to put everything back. Sometimes I wonder why I have such weird dreams?? LOL hugs, Amy
Wow, now that is my kind of dream! I have vivid dreams of going to a flea market and there is a man there with a table laden with boxes and boxes of broken pieces of junk and when I stop to look he offers everything to me for $20. Then I wake up and am so excited to start creating and then it hits me that it was all a dream...sigh...Maybe your dream will turn out to be prophetic and we should hit the flea markets together!!
Cheryl when I first saw the photos I thought you had made these... I can see why you like them so much. They speak your name and of your talent even though you did not create them.
Cheryl The New York Times did a fab peice on Steampunk last year...the attire, the art, the music...how it's entering the perma-culture. I am sure it's on line. You'll love it... xxoo Jen earthangelstoys.blogspot.com
