The color purple

As I was out in the yard this morning I noticed that most of my flowers blooming were purple. What beautiful and different shades there are! While out there the blimp decided to take off, we live about a mile from where it docks, so I thought I would include a pic of it. Someday when I am brave enough I want to take a ride in it, but so far that day has not

A beautiful work of art

I came across this piece on Etsy and was struck by the beauty of it. It is attached to a wood bottle crate. What a clever and amazing canvas to create a work of art on! To see more of the artist's work please visit her here

My love of old photos began when I was a young girl and would spend the night with my great-grandma. She would bring out all these old pics of family and would tell me who they were and stories about the people in her life back then. She was one of 11 children so there were many photos and many stories to tell!
I am so lucky to have been the recipient of some of these photos and proudly display them in my home. I miss my great-grandma so much but at least I can see her everyday. The only color photo displayed is one of me as a baby on her lap, it is one of my faves along with the pics of my mom when she was young.

What is it??

I found this wonderful piece a few years ago at an antique shop and still have not been able to find out exactly what it is. At first it looks like a crystal ball but the bottom of the glass ball is open and there is a slit at the top. My guess is some kind of a lamp with the slit for the hot air to escape, let me know what you think it could be!! Whatever it is, i just love it!

I found one

Well, I was in search of a glider and I found one. Granted it is not a thing of beauty right now but after some scrapping, sanding and painting, along with some new cushions, I hope to restore it to it's former glory. I just need to find the time to do it!!

A new porch

Thank goodness the rain has left and we can get back to working on our new front porch! My hubby has been working so hard on building our new porch so I thought I would post some pics of his work in progress. He just started putting a coat of white primer on when the lousy weather hit... I can't wait to see it painted and to find some wonderful furniture to put out there. I would love to have either a porch swing or an old metal glider.....hopefully I can find one on my flea market travels!!!

My favorite....

flowers in the whole world are daffodils. I look forward every year to seeing them bloom and eagerly await to smell their beautiful aroma. Yesterday my hubby brought me this bunch he picked. To me this is way more special than a bouquet of roses!

what the heck!

I can't believe that it was in the 60's last week and now it is snowing!! I guess it was my fault for putting the shovel away and for taking my snow scraper out of the car!!

Another fabulous artist

A couple of years ago I went to the Canton Art Museum to see an exhibition that featured an artist by the name of Clare Murray Adams. She had the most amazing encaustic work that incorporated books along with found objects. For many months after that I found myself gazing at the museum catalog and admiring her work. This morning as I was looking at Etsy I got a huge thrill when I saw that she was now offering her work there!!

To see more of her unique creations just stop over here and take a peek!

Which one....

Which one of these is not like the other?? Whenever my cat Riley gets stressed out he jumps up on the highest shelf and tries to hide in between the teddy bears. He thinks that no one will notice him up there....maybe I should try it!

I'm in love!

As I was perusing Etsy I came across this photo of this amazing art doll and fell instantly in love!! Then I checked out the rest of her shop and now am totally infatuated with the work of this amazing artisan.

Her name is Paula Nerhus, check out her blog link on the left to see more of her wonderfully whimsical creations. She will also be featured in the /May/June/July edition of Art Doll Quarterly which I cannot wait to get my hands on!!
Thanks so much Paula for letting me post pics of your work and I hope to be a proud owner of one of your pieces one day!
